My family moved from Chile to the U.S. when I was 9.
I joined Peace Corps Paraguay where I worked with my Ministry of Health counterpart on community water projects in our community of Villeta for 38 months. On my return to the states, I went back to school for an undergraduate and a graduate degree. Given my Peace Corps experience I was hired by CARE to promote community water projects in Peru followed by Bolivia, Honduras, and Sierra Leone totaling 9 years.
On my return, I was hired by the Peace Corps to be the agency’s Water/Sanitation Specialist. After completing the max 5 years contract period, I went to work for the Agency for International Development where I worked in an office that provided funding to Private Voluntary Organizations working in Child Survival activities overseas. I continued working for the Federal Government in the Public Health Service and the FDA until retirement.
In retirement, my goal is to stay healthy and enjoy life. I travel and take long walks: Camino, Coast 2 Coast, Mont Blanc…. Why Shepherd Village? I miss and need a sense community.
