Scot and I live out at Rolling Ridge Study Retreat in a wonderful, warm and welcoming home we built of straw bales, clay, and lots of love and energy. Scot is my soul mate, best friend, and partner of 36 years. Having raised three wonderful sons while living and working in the DC area, we felt drawn to a life closer to nature where we could feel the rhythms of the seasons, get to know the creatures of the forest, live lightly on the earth, and participate in a community of kindred spirits.
I spent many years working in schools, teaching young children, developing curriculum, and nurturing teachers. I loved building community within my classroom and among my colleagues. While I still love education, my passions these days run more toward creating wildlife habitat around our home. With not much experience or plant knowledge, I’m learning about the needs of pollinators and creating gardens with mostly native plants. I love nature photography – especially butterflies but also the frogs in our little pond, wildflowers, soft green moss, snakes, turtles…you get the picture.
Having explored all kinds of art forms, I am especially drawn to textile arts, creating art quilts and felt pieces. I love to read, dance, watch movies, play board games, work crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all I adore my little three year old granddaughter, Anjali, and new grandson Zakir!
